THUNDER BAY – The controversial Danger Cats comedy shows scheduled for this weekend have been postponed.

Chris Mulawyshyn, founder of Crickets Comedy Club, said a plumbing issue is the latest problem he’s experienced since moving the club into the Odeon building at the end of 2020.

“You think you get one thing fixed and then you hit another snag. Right now the snag is the sewer line where it enters the building – it’s blocked,” he said.

The blocked sewer line meant Mulawyshyn had to move the Danger Cats shows to August. Two shows will be booked for Aug. 17 and if there’s demand an additional show will be held on Aug. 16.

Mulawyshyn said anyone who can't attend should reach out to whomever they purchased tickets from, whether it was Crickets or Danger Cats, for a refund.

Diversity Thunder Bay called for the cancellation of the shows over concerns about racist content and alleged ties to white nationalist groups.

Mulawyshyn said he’s hopeful the Odeon’s plumbing issue will be rectified soon, so no other shows need to be postponed.

Before 2020, Crickets was based out of the Royalton Lounge, but Mulawyshyn said the club needed more space to grow.
