THUNDER BAY – Thunder Bay princes and princesses were invited to spend a magical afternoon at the Da Vinci Centre Sunday.

Local families were able to dress up in their best royal garb, dance the day away, and meet their favourite princesses and fairies, all for a good cause at the second annual Fort City Kinettes Royal Ball.

Crowns and tiaras were sparkling on Sunday as roughly 200 young royals made their way to the Da Vinci Centre, dressed in their finest clothing.

The event was packed with activities to make attendees feel like royalty, including a crown and wand making station, face painting, and dancing.

Anne Barbosa volunteers at the royal ball every year. She said the reactions from the kids are always heartwarming to see.

“The fact that they just accept the magic for what it is at face value and have a great time is just amazing,” she said.

“Having all of the kids and seeing the magic in their faces when they see all of the princesses, all of the princes and all of the balloons and the magic, that’s what just makes everything worth it.”

Proceeds from the $50 tickets went to help support Cystic Fibrosis Canada, a national charitable not-for-profit corporation committed to finding a cure for cystic fibrosis.
