Mikus taken in fourth round of OHL draft, Taylor in the eighth

North Stars centre was the SIJHL rookie of the year and one of two Thunder Bay players taken in the OHL draft. Guelph grabbed Reggie Taylor in the eighth round. North Stars forward was named the SIJHL rookie of the year.

THUNDER BAY – Superior International Junior Hockey League rookie of the year Easton Mikus has gotten the call from the Ontario Hockey League. 

Mikus, who scored 31 goals and added 29 assists. His freshman campaign with the Thunder Bay North Stars, on Saturday was taken 69th overall by the Owen Sound Attack. 

The 16-year-old set an SIJHL rookie record earlier this season, scoring six goals in a single game.

He's the highest drafted Thunder Bay player since Kyle Auger was taken 29th overall in 2015.

Mikus wasn't the only Thunder Bay player taken.

Reggie Taylor, who scored 20 goals and added 12 assists in 35 games with the Whitby Wildcats U16 squad, was taken in the eighth round, 151st overall, by the Guelph Storm.

Taylor added nine points in 10 playoff appearances and also played for the Thunder Bay Kings in 2022-23.
