City residents celebrate World Tai Chi Day

THUNDER BAY – A number of city residents turned out to the waterfront to get a relaxing start to their Saturday.

More than 50 people marked World Tai Chi Day at the International Taiji Park at Prince Arthur’s Landing for a morning session, led by Peng Youlian.

Tai chi is an ancient Chinese martial art performed with slow and careful movements, combining exercise with a state of moving meditation

Since 1999, World Tai Chi Day is annually celebrated at 10a.m. on the last Saturday in April in more than 80 countries.
