THUNDER BAY -- Paul Shaffer now has an entire day to himself.

With David Letterman's final show airing Wednesday, Thunder Bay's most famous musician and Letterman's long-time sidekick goes with him. To honour the occasion Thunder Bay has declared May 20 as Paul Shaffer Day in the city.

Shaffer has served as musical director for Letterman since 1982. In 2002 the city named the road around the Thunder Bay Community Auditorium Paul Shaffer Drive.
