THUNDER BAY -- Despite being behind schedule, the cyclotron should still be up and running on time.
Thunder Bay Regional Research Institute's cyclotron director Mike Campbell said the timeline to get the particle accelerator has been delayed about six weeks. But it should still be ready by April.
It's a complicated project and there have been some issues with duct work going into the vault that will hold the cyclotron.
"There are a lot of details in this project," Campbell said. "Being a little bit behind schedule is actually not that surprising."
Research Institute officials hope to have public tours by March.
On Tuesday a big part of the project was installed. The 2.5 metre-thick bunker door, which will rest on a track and be used as the main way in and out of the facility, was lowered in by crane.
