FORT FRANCES. Ont. -- Resolute’s president has offered clarification amid ongoing concerns with the company’s Fort Frances mill.

Fort Frances town officials had said a sale to the U.S.-based company Experia fell through because of wood tenure issues.

But Garneau, while speaking at a community forum on forestry at Lakehead University  Tuesday evening, said that is not the case.

The company’s president  said Resolute had been talking with five companies with interest in the mill.

He added that officials with the town and province knew Resolute was willing to give up the Crossroute Forest Licence.

The Tuesday evening forum meant to open a dialogue about the future of the forestry industry in this region.

A second forum is scheduled to take place in Atikokan at the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 145 Wednesday at 6:30 p.m.
