The return of winter weather means the return of calendar parking.

City officials on Wednesday announced they are enacting parking restrictions on residential streets from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily.

The ban requires motorists to park on alternating sides of the streets on odd and even days. It’s a necessity, said James Coady, the city’s parking authority manager.

“The implementation of calendar parking restrictions for this winter is based on recent snowfall, as well as the forecast, which is calling for more snow,” Coady said in a release.

“Motorists are asked to obey posted calendar parking signs, and allow our crews to remove snow from City roadways more efficiently.”
Priority routes have also been implemented and no parking is allowed on designated streets between 2 a.m. and 7 a.m. to allow for proper road maintenance.

The restrictions are scheduled to remain in place until March 31, 2015.
