NIPIGON, Ont. -- A lane of Highway 17 east of Nipigon remained closed Thursday as CP Rail continued its cleanup of this week's train derailment.

A total of 22 cars on the 76-car train jumped the tracks at around noon on Tuesday.  CP Rail officials later confirmed that some propane did leak out from two of the cars, but they insisted that the environmental impact was minimal.

The highway between Nipigon and Schreiber was completely closed for more than 16 hours, before re-opening to one lane Wednesday morning.

CP officials say the clean-up at the site is progressing well.

But due to the amount of large equipment needed for the clean-up, the highway continues to be limited to one lane of traffic, with assistance from CP Police.

The rail line was opened late last night.

The cause of the derailment is still under investigation.
