OPP dive team recovers body, believed to be missing Eabametoong First Nation man

Police have recovered the body of a man believed to have gone through the ice in Eabametoong First Nation.

Police have recovered the body of a man believed to have gone through the ice in Eabametoong First Nation.

Members of the OPP’s underwater search and recovery unit, the emergency response team and the OPP helicopter unit were sent to the remote community on April 22.

Two days later divers located the body of a deceased male believed to be the missing person they were seeking. The victim’s identity cannot be confirmed at this time. A post-mortem is scheduled for Monday in Kenora.

Foul play is not suspected.
