Person sent to hospital after Friday morning crash

THUNDER BAY -- A two vehicle collision at Balsam Street and Huron Avenue sent one person to hospital with minor injuries Friday morning. Police responded around 8 a.m. and traffic was backed up as a result.

THUNDER BAY -- A two vehicle collision at Balsam Street and Huron Avenue sent one person to hospital with minor injuries Friday morning.

Police responded around 8 a.m. and traffic was backed up as a result.

In a media release, the Thunder Bay Police Service said a northbound black pickup truck collided with an eastbound red sedan within the intersection, which has a four-way stop.

The 35-year-old driver of the sedan suffered minor injuries and was taken to hospital. The 37-year-old driver of the truck was not hurt.

Traffic was backed up for about an hour as both vehicles needed to be towed.

Charges are pending and police said it has been determined there was a stop sign violation.
