Ribfest so successful it runs out of ribs (15 PHOTOS)

When the smoke cleared after Ribfest, it still wasn't clear how much pork had been served.

The four ribbers who traveled from Southern Ontario ran out of ribs and local restaurants had to step in to keep meat on the grill through Sunday.

"Thunder Bay keeps coming out in larger numbers every year to have these ribs and not just featuring the ribs but featuring all the great businesses we have here in Thunder Bay," said Waterfront District BIA board director and Ribfest co-chair Alison Slomke.

Ribs Royale won Sunday's People's Choice Award, Sweet Smoke was voted to have had the best sauce and Jack The Ribber was recognized as having the Best Overall Ribs.

Slomke called the Red River Rumble show a "great success." Of the 102 vehicles entered, Tony Guadagnolo's 1928 Chevy pickup was crowned with the People's Choice Award.

Ribfest Proceeds will be shared between the Waterfront District BIA and Our Kids Count.
