THUNDER BAY – A driver involved in a dramatic crash on the city’s northside has been charged, and the truck he was driving reported stolen.

Thunder Bay Police Service officials say the crash took place Wednesday afternoon just before 6 p.m. on High and Inchiquin Streets.

Both vehicles sustained significant damage when a white pickup truck failed to stop for a posted stop sign on Inchiquin Street.

Both vehicles were propelled off the roadway as a result of the impact.

Both drivers also suffered injuries, although police say the extent of those injuries are still unknown. Both drivers were escorted to the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre by paramedics.

The 18-year-old driver of the pickup truck has been charged with driving without a licence and failing to stop for a stop sign.

Police say the pickup truck was reported stolen in Armstrong prior to the crash. That matter is being investigated by the Armstrong detachment of the OPP.
