Glance at Crime: Police kept busy with theft-heavy week

THUNDER BAY - City police responded to more than 284 incidents during the week of Monday, Sept. 28, 2015 through Sunday, Oct. 4, 2015.

Thunder Bay Police Service statistics are made available through crimereports.com, a website that tracks reported crime via information provided by local police services.

The more than 284 incidents reported last week is an estimate and does not include traffic cases.

South of the Harbour Expressway, city police responded to 145 reported crimes. Some of the more serious incidents included:

• 15 Assaults
• 12 Break and enter
• 2 Robbery
• 17 Thefts
• 3 Thefts from vehicles
• 3 Thefts of vehicles
• 8 Weapons charges

Meanwhile, north of the Harbour Expressway, officers responded to more than 139 criminal reports.

Some of the more serious incidents reported include:

• 11 Assaults
• 8 Break and enters
• 3 Sexual assault
• 23 Thefts
• 4 Theft from vehicles
• 1 Theft of vehicles
• 6 Weapons charges

The vast majority of cases city police responded to were listed as either liquor, disorder and property crime.
