THUNDER BAY -- If you're looking to avoid the line at voting stations on Election Day, advance polls officially open across the country Friday.

The returning officer in Thunder Bay-Superior North is encouraging everyone to take advantage of them. Advance polling stations will open to the public as of Friday from noon to 8 p.m. and will be available through the long weekend until Monday night.

Returning Officer Bill Everitt said residents looking to take advantage of the early ballots need to go to specific locations. Those locations can be found on voter registration cards or the Elections Canada website.

A driver's licenses is the best piece of identification to bring because it shows your name, address and picture. If not, two separate pieces of I.D. will do instead.
