The formal search for Charnelle Masakeyash has been called off.

A team of over 30 Ontario Provincial Police officers, Search and Rescue crews and Canadian Rangers discontinued the search the 26-year-old Pickle Lake woman on Friday.

The team and volunteers from Pickle Lake and Mishkeegogamang First Nation performed a grid search in the area of Pickle Lake where Masakeyash was last seen on Nov. 4 but discovered nothing.

Her status has now officially been changed from “lost” to “missing.”

“They searched within a 4.5-kilometre radius. At that time, they’d searched as much as they could,” said OPP Const. Diana Cole.

“What we are doing is following up on any leads. If anyone has any information, it’s a continuing investigation.”
