THUNDER BAY -- An Ambrose Street property owner has been fined more than $12,800 for failing to comply with an inspection order written by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue.

THUNDER BAY -- An Ambrose Street property owner has been fined more than $12,800 for failing to comply with an inspection order written by Thunder Bay Fire Rescue.

In a release issued Thursday by the city said the owner, who was not identified, also found guilty in Provincial Court of 14 additional fire-code violations.

The charges resulted from an annual fire-code inspection by firefighters. The owner failed to address the violations before a compliance order expired.

“Failing to comply with an inspection order can result in a fine of up to $20,000 for every day you are not compliant,” said Deputy Fire Chief Greg Hankkio.

“Building owners are responsible for their buildings under the Ontario Fire Code and they must ensure they meet the regulations laid out in it.”
