THUNDER BAY - Officials with the hospitals in Marathon and Terrace Bay are celebrating what they call a big leap forward for regional medical services.

The hospital boards for Wilson Memorial Hospital in Marathon, Terrace Bay's McCausland Hospital, and the Wilkes Terrace Long-term Care Facility in Terrace Bay have merged together, creating the North of Superior Healthcare Group.

The Superior Healthcare Group CEO Adam Brown said there will be no job losses from the amalgamation.

He added that the merger will create efficiencies and remove redundancies within the organization.

Thunder Bay-Superior North MPP Michael Gravelle said that this merger will increase the base budget for the facilities.
