Drug charge follows Ignace sudden death

An Ignace man has been charged with opioid trafficking.

IGNACE, Ont. - Police are charging an Ignace man with drug trafficking after a sudden death in the community last week. Alfred Wanzuk, 48, appeared at the Ontario Court of Justice earlier Tuesday on a schedule I – opioids charge and was held in custody.

Nathaniel Lacroix, 37, of Burlington, Ontario was found deceased on West Street in Ignace on the morning of Nov. 6. The OPP said in a release that the drug charges against Wanzuk came as a result of their investigation into the death.

Members of the OPP’s North West Region Crime Unit are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death. Anyone with information that could assist the investigation is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
