THUNDER BAY - Quick actions by firefighters prevented a structural fire from spreading during an early morning blaze on the city’s north side.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue responded to reports of a structural fire just after 8 a.m. Thursday morning off Onion Lake Road.
Arriving crews observed a barn at the rear of the property billowing dark smoke and with visible flames.
A second alarm was called and water was applied to prevent further exposure fires. A quick attack prevented further damage and the fire was extinguished.
No animals were housed in the barn and there were no reports of any injuries.
Five pumpers, an aerial ladder, a tanker, and a platoon chief responded to the fire. The cause is under investigation.
