THUNDER BAY - One person was sent to hospital with life threatening injuries following a fire on the city’s north side.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews responded to reports of a possible structural fire on Saturday just after 1 p.m. on Walkover Street.
Arriving crews observed heavy smoke coming from the building and a second alarm was called.
Witnesses in the area informed firefighters that an occupant was still inside the home. Crews entered the structure immediately, located the occupant, and removed them from the house.
The occupant was treated on scene by Superior North EMS before being transported to hospital with what is described as life threatening injuries.
The fire inside the home was quickly brought under control by firefighters and is under investigation by the Ontario Fire Marshal and Thunder Bay Police Service.
