Garage, RV, shelter catch fire in Alberta Street area

Firefighters say the blaze may have been fueled by propane tanks connected to the RV unit.

THUNDER BAY -- A garage, RV trailer and a large, portable tarp shelter went up in flames on Wednesday afternoon.

Thunder Bay Fire Rescue crews said they received a call about 4:40 p.m. reporting a large volume of flame and smoke at an Alberta Street residence. They arrived on scene to find all three engulfed in flames, which they believed were being fed by multiple propane tanks connected to the RV unit.

Firefighters attacked the blaze using multiple pieces of equipment to knock the flames down and keep the adjacent residence and a neighbouring home from catching fire.

The cause of the fire is as yet undetermined and under investigation.

There were no injuries to the owner or the occupants of the home.

Five pumper and rescue trucks, an aerial ladder, and a command vehicle responded to the fire. A fire investigation unit was also brought to the scene.
