THUNDER BAY — Provincial police say the driver of a snowplow was killed in a crash with a transport on Highway 102.
Police said the incident was reported just before 10 p.m. Friday on a section of the highway west of Silver Falls Road.
The westbound snow clearing vehicle was plowing when it collided with an eastbound tractor trailer unit, police said.
A 52-year-old Thunder Bay man was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver and passenger of the tractor trailer were not injured, police said.
Highway 102 remains closed between Sistonen's Corners and Mapleward Road on Saturday morning and police have asked all traffic to avoid the area.
The OPP's traffic incident management and enforcement team, along with collision re-constructionists, are investigating the incident.
