Construction of a Hampton Inn near Thunder Bay's airport is behind schedule, but is still happening according to the developer.

Jeffrey Crocco told CKPR Radio that the April start date has been moved to September or October since it took longer to complete environmental studies.

“It looks like we are going to be increasing the number of rooms that we had scheduled for the property,” Crocco said Thursday morning.

“We originally were looking at having 77 rooms, but we’re now looking at just north of 100 rooms for the property.”

He added that construction of the hotel will take about a year.

I smell a kibosh on this one too.
I am a fan of the Hilton hotels and do hope they can pull it off.
They just went in, took some property at the airport with no demands whatsoever. The only way to do it.
I just hope there are no protests about it and causes them to pick up and leave.
Super Store has pretty much ruined the Marriot hotel project along with the two restaurants it was supposed to go with it.

You realize that these kinds of developments are complex and take a while to finish, right?

Hotel proposals always take a long time to break ground, for whatever reason. It took Donald Trump over a decade to get his hotel in Toronto built.

What the frigggng heck is going on with these environmental studies!!!!. Are the inmates truly in charge of the asylum!!! Federally/Provincially/Municipally. I have driven by this location - what was there a chicken farm?? What could have been there??? maybe an old oil tank for a furnace to heat a chicken coop. We are making ourselves/our businesses totally absolutely cost prohibitive in this country. The Feds need $7.4 billion to clean up old sites - Now some need cleaning that's for sure - but many are old oil tanks that were outside schools on reserves etc. What are they going to do next start making anybody who had an oil tank or a coal room ( like my family home did before it got retrofitted to natural gas) get an environmental cleanup???. No wonder the Federal Cons want to clean up some of this environmental legislation - many just a make work projects for MOEE and environmental consulting firms. Get Real!!!

Let's object. Let's protest. We weren't consulted. We need 200 rooms.
