THUNDER BAY -- Hope that a recent snowfall warning from Environment Canada would be recalled has all but disappeared.

As of Thursday morning, the government weather agency continued to warn of snowfall that could amount to 20 centimetres between Thursday night and Friday morning.

Updated at 5:30 a.m., the warning states that light rain or wet snow is expected to move into areas near Lake Superior Thursday afternoon.

Precipitation is expected to change to snow, becoming heavy at times, and taper off on Friday.

Thursday night is expected to bring 15 centimeters of snow, while another five is expected to drop on Friday.

This snowfall warning led the Lakehead Region Conservation Authority on Wednesday to issue a flood outlook statement.

That statement warned that the forecasted precipitation, combined with expected snowmelt, could lead to a rapid rise in area waterways.
