Ring of Fire -- Ontario has been granted leave to intervene in a major mining dispute, but only on questions of law.
The conflict is between Cliffs Natural Resources and KWG Resources over the granting of an easement.
Cliffs lost a ruling last year, essentially preventing the company from moving ahead with a road into the Ring of Fire.
The Mining Commissioner's ruling last September was one of the reasons Cliffs gave for halting work on it's chromite project.
However, the company is appealing the decision. A hearing is scheduled for mid-June.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Northern Development and Mines takes no position in the appeal.
