A colourful fun run scheduled for Boulevard Lake has been cancelled.

The Run or Dye event drew thousands in 2013, its first visit to Thunder Bay, but the company that organizes the runs have given little indication why they pulled out of Thunder Bay.

It appears not to be an isolated issue, with similar runs in Georgia and Florida being cancelled and participants who registered left to wonder if they’ll be getting full refunds.

Outraged participants took to Facebook to voice their displeasure with the company.

“I have yet to receive my refunds,” wrote a woman identifying herself as Rodi-Lynn Rusnick Kinisky.

“I was live-chatting online through the Run or Dye link Thursday and was told the refunds would take seven to 10 business days to show up on my credit-card statement. Yesterday was 10 business days,” Kinisky said.

“I am trying to live chat again today. They did not give refunds to those events they cancelled in the U.S.A., although it was never an option for those folks. It was an option for us.”

She later said she had been in touch with race organizers, who informed her she had been refunded.

Not everyone was having the same success.

“My friend and I have had no luck in contacting anyone and no refunds as of yet,” Liz Krieg wrote Tuesday afternoon.

The Run or Dye website offers four solutions to pre-registered participants.

Offers include two tickets to any other Run or Dye run event, one ticket to an event plus a $25 gift card to the company’s online store, race swag and a $25 gift card or a full refund.
