QUETICO PARK, Ont. -- An emergency locator beacon is again being credited in the successful rescue of an injured camper from Quetico Park.
According to the OPP, a 60-year old Duluth, Minnesota man suffered a broken leg while in a remote area of the park on Thursday.
His travelling companions were able to find another group who had an emergency distress beacon and a call for help was sent out.
The call for assistance went to the OPP emergency response team in Fort Frances, who chartered a float plane to reach the injured man.
He was then successfully evacuated to receive needed medical attention.
