Mark Bentz wants to finish what he’s started for Northwood at the city council table.

With 17 projects for the Northwood Ward in the city’s Neighbourhood Master Stormwater Drainage Study, the three-term ward councillor wants to see them all implemented during the next term.

Bentz also wants to see the city’s infrastructure funding increases continue.

“It lowers our overall costs if you maintain things then you don’t have to replace them,” he said.

With degrees in physics and education Bentz has worked in research and development, engineering and marketing. Currently a teacher, he said that experience along with his community involvement with various organizations, helps him when making decisions at city council.

On community safety, Bentz said he wants to see the city continue with zone policing.

“I want to see some of these thing that have begun through to the end,” he said.

With taxes always being top of mind in the community, Bentz said over the past five years the city has tried to keep taxes affordable by matching it with inflation.

“I’d like to think that I’ve been a driving force in helping council to get down there to inflation its something I’ve advocated all along,” he said.

Affordability is also key for Bentz when it comes to the proposed event centre.

Getting the federal and provincial governments on board to help fund the project is important but so is keeping the cost to taxpayers, Bentz would like to see around one per cent on the tax levy or about $30 a household, is important.

“I’m certainly not the type the wants to build it at any cost,” he said.
