October 22, 2014 – The City of Thunder Bay once again welcomes delegates from around the region for the two-day Northwestern Ontario Water & Wastewater Conference (NWOWWC), which begins Thursday, Oct. 23.

This year’s conference – the 60th annual – will take place at the Valhalla Inn, and will include about 200 delegates, 11 speakers, and 35 exhibitors at the accompanying trade show.

“This conference is an exciting opportunity to learn more about new developments in water and wastewater solutions, and a chance to network with professionals from across Northwestern Ontario,” said Henry Connor, conference chair. “It is through the exchange of new ideas and information that we keep up-to-date on continual advancements in the water industry.”

Delegates will be treated to a number of presentations on various water- and wastewater-related topics over the course of the event, including Lake Superior restoration and protection, microplastics in water, the benefits of the Ontario Water and Wastewater Emergency Response Network, and the challenges associated with providing safe water overseas.

In addition, Carl Goodwin of the City of Thunder Bay will give a presentation titled Showcasing Water Innovation – City of Thunder Bay’s Water and Wastewater Treatment Project Update.

“NWOWWC is aimed at water quality professionals, those who treat water and return it to the environment,” Connor said. “We’re excited to once again offer a wide range of technical training and education opportunities to our delegates.”
