Police looking for vehicle involved in Westfort hit and run

THUNDER BAY -- Police are looking for the person involved in a late morning hit and run in Westfort Tuesday. Thunder Bay Police Service officers say the crash took place just before 10:30 a.m.

THUNDER BAY -- Police are looking for the person involved in a late morning hit and run in Westfort Tuesday.

Thunder Bay Police Service officers say the crash took place just before 10:30 a.m. in front of a home in the 1400 block of West Francis Street. A silver Mazda sedan that was parked in front of the home and was struck by another vehicle, causing significant damage.

The driver of that vehicle did not remain at the scene.

Investigation by police included analysis of debris that was left at the scene, and it is determined that the vehicle that fled was either a red 1999-2005 Chevrolet S10 Blazer SUV or a 1998-2004 GMC S10 Sonoma pick-up truck.

Police are asking for any witnesses to contact the Traffic Unit at 684-1226.

Police say all collisions that result in a combined damage that exceeds $1,000 or personal injury must be reported to police 'forthwith.'

Reports can be made 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays or 10 a.m. to  4 p.m. on Saturdays at the Self Reporting Center in the Balmoral Police Station.
