Gun shots send Far North school into lockdown

ATTIWAPISKAT, Ont. -- A tense situation has come to an end in the remote community of Attiwapiskat First Nation.

ATTIWAPISKAT, Ont. -- A tense situation has come to an end in the remote community of Attiwapiskat First Nation. 

Nishnawbe-Aski Police and the OPP put the community school on lockdown and closed the airport following a firearms incident Wednesday morning. 

Police say a 36-year-old man, who they described as dangerous, fled to a nearby bush after firing at least one shot. 

This situation came to an end around noon, about two-and-a-half hours after it began, when a suspect was taken into custody. 

The investigation continues.
