THUNDER BAY -- It stood for more than a century but was reduced to rubble in a matter of hours.

The former manse at Trinity United Church, that stood at the corner of Red River Road and Park Avenue for 101 years was demolished Tuesday.

The old minister's home has been vacant for a few years now.

Church officials opted to have the building torn down rather than pay roughly $200,000 to bring it up to code. They say that's money that would be better used to help operate and maintain the church itself.
