THUNDER BAY -- A section of William Street will be closed for the next few weeks for the development of a new storm sewer system.

City crews were out Friday morning on the south side of Confederation College.

The road will be closed to traffic between Edward and Barton streets for at least two weeks.

The city of Thunder Bay says the work is phase one of a larger project that will last up to three months.

The new storm sewers will also be constructed on parts of James and Edward Streets later this season.

The city is asking motorists to use alternate routes through the area to help reduce traffic congestion.
