Missing boaters located

OPP News Release ARMSTRONG -- On the evening of July 1, 2015 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted regarding two overdue boaters. The two male fishermen were part of a charter group that had been staying on the west end of Lake Nipigon.

ARMSTRONG -- On the evening of July 1, 2015 the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were contacted regarding two overdue boaters.

The two male fishermen were part of a charter group that had been staying on the west end of Lake Nipigon.

The two males (a 54-year-old from Woolwich Township and a 57-year-old from Toronto) had last been seen at approximately 10:00am on July 1 but had not returned as expected that date.

OPP attended the scene and a search for the males began at first light July 2, 2015.

The OPP helicopter, members of the North West Region Emergency Response Team (ERT), and members with the Civilian Air Search and Rescue Association all assisted with the search.

The afternoon of July 3, 2015 the two boaters were located by a Ministry of National Resources (MNR) float plane and OPP North West Region ERT officers on Lake Nipigon.
