Fort Frances fire extinguished

Fire crews have extinguished Fort Frances Fire Number 18, along the shore of Rainy Lake near Red Gut Bay. The fire lit on Saturday and was held to 0.1 hectares.

The fire lit on Saturday and was held to 0.1 hectares. 

The forest fire hazard is moderate in the northwest sectors of the region and low in all other sectors.

Ontario has 128 aviation and fire management personnel in Idaho and Montana. There are 122 personnel deployed to Idaho including FireRanger crews, aviation staff, and overhead personnel.

Two CL-415 heavy water bombers and a birddog aircraft are also on assignment there. There are six people in Montana including air support group supervisors, helibase managers, and division supervisors.

Ontario continues to supply equipment to Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan, with some slated for return from Saskatchewan.

The Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services program is reminding people that they are responsible for safe outdoor fire management and must follow guidelines set out in the Forest Fires Prevention Act of Ontario including no day burning of brush or grass fires. Campfires are to be tended at all times and put out before leaving.
