THUNDER BAY – Firefighters say a smoke detector was the likely lifesaver following a morning house fire on the city’s north side.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue firefighters responded to reports of a house fire on Melon Street at about 9 a.m. Sunday.
A woman and two young children managed to escape after being alerted by the home’s smoke detector.
Firefighters say a couch was on fire on a ground-floor unit and was dealt with quickly.
The fire caused minimal damage.
