Police officer charged after gun stolen last fall

A Thunder Bay Police Services officer is facing a pair of weapons charges after his police-issued Glock handgun and three magazines of ammunition was stolen from his personal vehicle.

The incident occurred on Oct. 10, 2015.

Sgt. James A. Glena, 51, was charged with careless storage of a firearm and breach of a firearms regulation. He’s expected back in court on March 22 and remains on duty.

The firearm, along with one of the three magazines, was turned into a local attorney on Oct. 14, 2015. The OPP was called into to investigate the case.

None of the charges has been proven in a court of law.
