Man arrested, charged following fire alarm prank

(SIOUX LOOKOUT, ON) The Sioux Lookout Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have laid charges against a 53 year old man in relation to a false fire alarm.

Shortly after 4:30pm on Tuesday April 26th, police and fire department were dispatched to a fire alarm at an apartment building on Third Avenue.

The investigation revealed that there was no fire, and that the alarm in the building had been purposely set off by one of the tenants. 

A 53-year-old Sioux Lookout man is now charged with false fire alarm contrary to the criminal code.

The man has since been released from police custody and will appear in Sioux Lookout court on May 31, 2016.

The Sioux Lookout OPP would like to remind the public that it is a criminal offence to set off a fire alarm without just cause, and this includes setting off mechanical alarms as well as verbally announcing an alarm when there is no fire.
