The prime minister’s celebrity factor has led to overwhelming demand for a T-shirt that can only be found at a local brewery.
On Father’s Day, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau shared photographs of himself enjoying the day with his family. In those photographs the prime minister sported a Sleeping Giant Brewery Northern Logger T-shirt.
When brewery owner Matt Pearson first saw the photos shared on social media, he couldn’t help but grin.
“I was taken aback,” Pearson said. “Usually it’s just the plain shirt or you don’t know what they are wearing in terms of brand or labels so to see (Sleeping Giant Brewery) on (Prime Minister Justin Trudeau) you get taken aback.”
The brewery owner wasn’t the only one to take notice. Since the photo first appeared online, Pearson has received a flood of text messages and emails.
Pearson plans to take advantage of the exposure, and give something back to the community.
“The attention in the comment section, all the positive stuff – we could’ve just left it but we thought this would be a great way to take that money and donate it to the boys and girls club,” he said.
“The Boys and Girls Club is a great charity and it’s also recognizable in every community.”
For the next two weeks the brewery will sell their Northern Logger T-shirt for $20, with all proceeds going to the Boys and Girls Club.
To order the shirts email [email protected] with the size and shipping address or people can purchase them from the store.
