It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our father, Ernie Bailey, at the age of 94. He would have been 95 in May. Dad gets to keep his long awaited “date” with our mother Jean, who predeceased him in 2012 after 60 years of marriage. He was a hardworking, outdoorsy kind of guy, who loved hunting, fishing, trapping (winning many trophies), woodworking and gardening. He was still driving and was able to live in his own home right up to his recent illness. Dad worked for 20 years at Patterson’s Elevator (foreman), Hagglund’s Lumber, was self-employed, and then worked his favourite job for 18 years as a carpenter for the C.N.R. He also helped his family build several of their homes.

He is survived by his children, Ricky, Bill (Holly) and Susan Druhar, grandchildren Clayton, Michael, Erin, Amy (Kel), Shawneen (Richard), Kendra and Rick, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nephews and nieces. Also survived by siblings Bert (Rosemary), Beverley Vangel, sister-in-law Marion (Loris) Brescacin, brother-in-law Hughie (Peggy) Groombridge, sister-in-law Clare, and friend Arthur. Predeceased by parents Ernest and Anna Bailey, in-laws William and Catherine Groombridge, son-in-law Bob Druhar, brothers-in-law Bill, Harry (Marilyn), and Bob Groombridge, and Peter Vangel. Dad was happiest just puttering outside and watching Lawrence Welk on Saturday nights. We would like to thank the nurses and Dr. Migay for their extraordinary compassion while Dad was in St. Joseph’s Hospice. Interment will be at Stanley Hill Cemetery alongside our mother. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

You will be missed Dad

Til we meet again
