To the editor:

In the past few months the residents on the sixth floor of McGivor Court have been infested with bed bugs.

It started out with one person moving in from the Royal Edward Arms and his apartment has been sprayed about eight times or so.

Since then about 10 or so apartments have been affected on the sixth floor. Some have been checked and sprayed but a couple of residents are in denial about having the bed bugs in their apartments.

But so far the city’s housing department is not taking the necessary precautions to stop the bed bugs from going from one apartment to the other. The bug inspector has come and gone, checked and sprayed some apartments.

Now the problem is that people are paranoid and scared so some start to use Javex, powder and put mothballs around.

But it seems no one is getting the information about the bed bugs... or the facts and myths about them.

I have tried talking to a few people and some called Housing.

I have been told that they were going to do something about this situation. I know that I have heard that other floors are getting bed bugs.

One of my friends on the sixth floor has been checked over and over again. It seems that no matter what is done to their apartment the bed bugs keep appearing.

They live only a few doors done from the person who still has them. Mine was checked and I have about four bed bugs – was told that they were hitchhikers or I picked them up somewhere in the hallway.
