LETTER: City needs to fight back

To the editor:

Thunder Bay as a city some short years ago was a great city and a place a person could be proud to say they were from.
Now it has become a scary and un-nerving community.

We left the city to relocate to a small town due to the rise in crime.

I am glad we did as the entire family has enjoyed all that the small and safe town offers.

And don't be fooled, there is always something going on in Nipigon, a community we are now proud to call home.

It is a near crime-free and family valued community, something for all ages. Our local OPP work very hard but present themselves as caring citizens and friendly to all.

Thunder Bay, I am sad to say, no matter how hard the police work – and let me tell you they bust their butts  and put their lives on the line every shift – it doesn’t stop. So don't lay blame there.

No matter how many police there are the issues Thunder Bay faces must begin with the citizens.

You have to work harder and don't turn your backs.

There are ways to fight back to clean up the city – block reps, take pictures with cell phones and report crimes.

Don’t turn your backs. Fight back to help provide our youth with the type of city we were all proud of once.

Together, by taking a stand and everyone working together, not just a few, it will take all of the good people of  Thunder?Bay to win back your city.

There is strength in numbers and yesterday is gone, tomorrow is not yet here, so today is the day.

Good luck. Don’t let your house values continue to drop and businesses close.

Allan Cory,
Nipigon
