To the editor:
I notice that several of the Candidates running for office are making the statement "if we can afford it" when speaking abt the Event Center.
Isn't that like sitting on the fence? If they raise our taxes then they can afford anything they want right?
Mayor Hobbs is speaking about $25 million that is available from a Renew Thunder Bay fund
Isn't that our tax money he so flippantly plans on using as if it's just extra cash sitting around waiting to be spent? Then he suggests that raising taxes equal to the rate of inflation is acceptable.
Now we see a report about the high cost of our police force with little to show for it and when you factor in the possibility of our population decreasing in the coming years you have to wonder if it will be affordable to live in Thunder Bay in the coming years especially if you are a senior.
