LETTER: Computer voting issues

To the editor: Who gives a darn about those unfortunate enough to have lost their jobs and are now sleeping at Shelter House? Who cares if a bunch of those who couldn’t be taken in at Shelter House are found dead in cold dark doorways or lanes?

To the editor:

Who gives a darn about those unfortunate enough to have lost their jobs and are now sleeping at Shelter House?

Who cares if a bunch of those who couldn’t be taken in at Shelter House are found dead in cold dark doorways or lanes?

Who gives a darn that those families who have a breadwinner still have to go to food banks to make ends meet?

Well, it sure as heck isn’t Thunder?Bay city council.

We all know it is far more important to pad the pockets of those rich enough to afford tickets to get into an event centre for hockey games or other events.

We must remember the story of Robin Hood, who stole from the rich to give to the poor.

Only someone, in fact a majority, forgot and reversed the purpose of the story.

Now we face a dilemma – four more years of robbing the poor to satisfy the rich.

Who do we have to blame?

Why the dumb bunnies who failed to get off their butts and go and vote.

I would like to see the results of the election  – printed out, as I don’t trust machines.

I also wonder if this is why we are asked to stay within the square.

We are being asked to use computer systems and trust them.

Yet we’re being asked to digest mistakes, like the government’s alleged wiping of documents pertaining to the multi billion-dollar nuclear power project cancellation?

How manipulative are computers?

Hackers got into the White House and Samsung websites.

Would it be so hard to change ballot info for someone more knowledgeable than me?

Then we have Prime Minister Stephen Harper’s fiasco with computers.

It seems he got not a word sent to him in emails about Mike Duffy or who paid the $90,000 bill?

To believe or not believe?

Council seems to have adopted that famous slogan of a long ago era. "Let them eat cake."

Too bad, so sad. I’m glad we may be able to halt the spend thrift council if we vote the right way come election time at the federal level.

Or will Mayor Keith Hobbs and his council proceed full speed ahead, without federal support?

Time will tell.

Gerry Poling,
Thunder Bay
