To the editor:

A large number of young people had a party at Sandstone Lake this past weekend.

The people stopped members of my family and friends on the way to our camp. The police where definitely aware of the party.

There was also a party on the long weekend last year, where a mess was also left. On the Monday we saw the air ambulance come to the same place.

The people who own camps and others with family who sometimes use the area to vacation ended up cleaning up what they could of the mess. The camper association made the police and the ministry aware of the situation.

There are a large number of kids drinking and partying with no supervision.

They have multiple fires not properly attended. Trees are cut down around them for there fires. There are no washroom facilities so some use the bush and there are totes with holes cut into the top for outhouses left behind. Along with the broken bottles and containers are mattresses, lawn chairs etc. it looks and smells like a dump.

We saw two bears today on our way out. It is only a matter of time before there is a car accident or drowning. If one of there fires spread not all are going to get out alive including the campers who's only route out they are partying on. Such a thing would be tragic but it is now tragic that a beautiful part of this earth has been destroyed.

Where are the parents, and the government while our land is turned into a dump? This needs to be stopped and someone accountable.
