Ex-Lakehead star Kris Hogg handed 14-game ECHL suspension

Former Lakehead Thunderwolves star Kris Hogg has run afoul of the ECHL brass.

Hogg on Thursday received a 14-game suspension for a “forceful and extremely reckless slash to the upper body of an opponent while attempting to prevent a scoring opportunity.”

The discipline resulted from a slash on Alaska Aces forward Brendan Connolly, who suffered a fractured maxilla (the bone below the nose) and “significant damage to his teeth,” according to the Anchorage Daily News.

The league suspended Hogg indefinitely on Dec. 24.

The B.C. native, who spent four years with the Thunderwolves from 2007 to 2011, has seven goals and four assists in 24 games with the Utah Grizzlies.

Hogg scored 50 goals and added 56 assists in 102 games with the Thunderwolves. He spent last season in the Elite Ice Hockey League in Great Britain, where he scored 27 goals and 57 points in 51 games.
