Dustin Wilson is determined to create a new experience in Thunder Bay.

Wilson is the general manager of Aerosports Parks, and is behind the Thunder Bay Sports Dome renovations that will turn the facility into the city's first trampoline park.

The park is meant to be used as a place where the community can come in and jump around and just have a little fun.

Trampoline parks are common in many U.S. Cities, but are only just starting to open in locations across Canada.

“We want to open our doors and be a rental facility” Wilson said. “We want anyone that wants to have their hands on the trampolines.
“I went down to California to a trampoline park and jumped around myself and did all the fun activities and the programs that we’re going to have. I actually felt like I was 10-years-old again jumping around on my backyard trampoline.

“Its going to be really fun and really cool for the community."

The park has partnered with the Thunder Bay Gymnastics Club as a way for the club to use the park’s equipment, which helps the gymnasts overcome some of their own equipment challenges.

“We’re not a gymnastics club, we want to drive the sport of gymnastics” Wilson added.
Wilson hopes the park will be used by gymnasts as a way to train and feels that being a part of a club’s development is really important.

He also believes a change was needed for the Thunder Bay Sports Dome, as some of the facilities, namely the basketball court and mini-putt course, were underused.

The driving range and soccer field will stay and events will continue to be hosted at the Sports Dome.

The park is still under construction and is expected to open soon.
