The comeback is complete and the Fort Frances Lakers are Superior International Junior Hockey League champions.

The host Lakers scored a 3-2 Game 7 win over the Minnesota Iron Rangers Wednesday night to capture the franchise's first title and the Northern Ontario community's first since the Borderland Thunder won it all in 2003.

Mason Meyer scored the winner at 12:42 of the third, a period the Lakers entered trailing 2-1. Lyndon Lipinski netted the equalizer at 1:43 of the final stanza.

Bryce Lipinski opened the scoring early in the second, but the Iron Rangers, who held a 3-1 series lead before dropping three straight, scored a pair of second-period markers to go up one, the goals coming 11 minutes apart from Evan Erickson and Jay Routheau.

Fort Frances will represent the SIJHL at the Dudley Hewitt Cup starting April 29 in Wellington, Ont.

Joining them at the provincial championship are the Toronto Lakeshore Patriots, the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners and the host Wellington Dukes.
