SIJHL names Border Cats assistant GM as league’s new commissioner

THUNDER BAY -- Border Cats assistant general manager Bryan Graham has been named the new commissioner of the Superior International Junior Hockey League.

THUNDER BAY -- Border Cats assistant general manager Bryan Graham has been named the new commissioner of the Superior International Junior Hockey League.

Graham takes over from Ron Whitehead, who was ousted at league meetings earlier this month after a decade-plus run.

A former referee in the ECHL and Central Hockey League, Graham also served as the ECHL’s vice-president and director of officiating for five seasons.

Graham, a well-known radio host in Thunder Bay, said he’ll combine all of his experiences to help move the Junior A circuit forward.

It’s an exciting time for me and I am really looking forward to the opportunity,” Graham said in a release issued Tuesday by the league.

“The SIJHL has made some positive inroads since its inception in 2001 and we as a league will look to build on the previous experiences and successes in continuing to make the SIJHL a viable Jr. A hockey option for our players, coaching staffs, fans and corporate partners.”
